The month of October is a busy time as there are an awful lot of sourcing trade shows. Every industry seems to be covered with sourcing shows in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Yiwu to name a few. At this time, we usually find ourselves busy providing our professional buyer support to our visiting customers. With this service, we for example meet-up with a client at the airport in Hong Kong and then head up to Guangzhou together where we spend a few days at Phase 1 of the Canton Fair.
While at the fair I will accompany our customer wandering the endless maze of exhibition halls supporting him to find the products he is keen on purchasing in the following year. When we find something of interest, I’ll provide my consultation based on my 15 years of experience working with manufacturers around Asia and assist with learning about the vendor’s products, capabilities, and negotiation. Working together as a team, we are able to efficiently and effectively achieve our customer’s purchasing objectives for their visit. Sometimes I will also help arrange factory visits to key manufacturers to see how they run their factories and production lines.
Following the trip, we usually spend a day to review everything and I will then prepare an in-depth summary of all products we looked into, associated prospective suppliers, etc. after returning to the office in Hong Kong. The end result is a very effective buying trip.
